Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced that the club will not participate in the 2025 Club World Cup in the USA.
“FIFA can forget about it,” Ancelotti told Il Giornale on Monday, making it clear that both the club and its players will skip the tournament.
The Italian coach criticized FIFA’s financial offer for the competition.
He said, “One Real Madrid game is worth €20 million, and FIFA wants to give us that sum for the entire tournament.
“No way. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation.”
Ancelotti’s statement comes as Real Madrid continues to celebrate their recent Champions League and La Liga title victories.
The former Chelsea gaffer, who is also the most successful Champions League coach with five titles; three with Madrid and two with Milan, emphasized that the club’s participation in the tournament was not feasible under the current terms.
