Real Madrid star Joselu agrees to join Qatari side Al Gharafa

Real Madrid forward Joselu Mato has agreed to a two-year deal with Qatari side Al-Gharafa, with decision set be finalized.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Joselu has also negotiated an option for an additional season.

The clubs, however, are yet to finalize an agreement. Real Madrid hold an option to buy Joselu for €1.5 million before the end of the month, which complicates negotiations.

While Real Madrid could purchase Joselu and sell him for a profit, they have suggested they won’t pursue this route.

Espanyol, Joselu’s current club, intends to leverage the situation.

Football Espana reports that Espanyol’s Chief Executive, Mao Ye, emphasized that Al-Gharrafa would need to negotiate directly with them if Real Madrid does not exercise their purchase option by June 30.

“Joselu has one more year on his contract if Madrid does not execute the purchase option before June 30.

“If Qatar wants him, they have to negotiate with Espanyol, and we have not received anything,” Ye told Rac1.
