Ramadan date announced as crescent moon is sighted in Saudi Arabia
The holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic lunar calendar 1445 is set to commence on Monday, March 11, 2024, following the sighting of the Crescent Moon in Saudi Arabia.
The Crescent Moon was observed on Sunday evening, March 10, in Sudair and Al-Hariq.
The sighting of the moon on Sunday indicates the beginning of the Ramadan period, marked by the commencement of Taraweeh prayers after the Isha’i prayer at midnight.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a time when Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from food and drink for a period of 29/30 days.
The fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is observed in unison by all Muslims across the globe.
