Prophet sentenced to life imprisonment for molesting 13-year-old girl

A 47-year-old prophet, Adeleye Akingbaso has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ekiti State High Court for molesting a 13-year-old girl.

The prophet was charged by the court in September 2022 with two counts related to rape and coercion.

The first charge, which was in July 2021, says the prophet coerced the 13-year0old girl into having sexual intercourse with him, which caused physical and psychological harm to the child’s well-being.

The second charge, which was in July 2022 says the Prophet raped a 13-year-old girl.

The victim while recounting the incident in court disclosed that the prophet who is a family friend raped her when her mother went to work during the night shift.

“He woke me up at midnight and said I bedwetted. He rubbed shea butter on my private part. I later discovered I had been raped that night. He threatened me that I would die if I told anybody. They called and informed my mother of the incident. She came home and later reported the case to the police”, the girl said.

Justice Blessing Ajileye found the cleric guilty on both counts after four witnesses and submitted the victim’s statement along with a medical report as evidence.

The prophet received a life imprisonment sentence for the first count (rape) and a three-year sentence for the second count (coercion).
