Petr Cech leaves Chelsea after meeting with club’s new owner, Todd Boehly
Prior to Cech’s departure, the club’s Chairman, Bruce Buck had stood down, while Marina Granovskaia, the figure behind a number of transfers over recent years at the club had also announced her departure.
Notwithstanding, the club’s former chief executive, Guy Laurence and ex-head of goalkeepers, Christophe Lollichon are also out of the club.
“It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years,” Cech told club media. “With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside. I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch.”
Cech’s departure came despite efforts from Boehly to keep him on board.
The ex-goalkeeper is said to have told the American now was the right time to move on, despite the owner being keen to use his expertise during the current transfer window.
