Peter Rufai endorses Nwabali as Super Eagles’ No. 1 goalkeeper

Peter Rufai has endorsed Stanley Nwabali as the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper, following his impressive performances at the 2023 AFCON.

The former Nigerian goalkeeper and a member of Nigeria’s 1994 AFCON-winning team, believes Nwabali has proven himself so far for the Eagles.

He noted that the Chippa United stopper could be the solution to Nigeria’s goalkeeping issues since the departure of Vincent Enyeama and Carl Ikeme, Rufai told Completesports.

Meanwhile, Nwabali, who was a surprise addition to the Nigerian AFCON squad, quickly won over fans with his outstanding displays, including stopping penalties that helped Nigeria secure a silver medal in the tournament.

In Rufai’s view, Nwabali’s consistent and impressive performances throughout the tournament have earned him the right to continue as the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper.
