Peter Mbah confident in achieving N600 billion IGR target for Enugu in 2025

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has assured residents that his administration is on course to meet its ambitious N600 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target for 2025.

Speaking during his investiture as President of the Enugu Sports Club on Saturday night, Mbah emphasized that the revenue boost would drive transformative development projects across the state.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to shifting from federal allocation dependence to a more sustainable domestic revenue strategy.

“When we took over, the state’s IGR was about N25 billion. This year, our projected IGR is N600 billion, and based on the numbers we are seeing, we are not only going to meet this target but surpass it,” Mbah declared.

“This revenue growth is what enables us to make significant interventions across all sectors, from education to healthcare and beyond.”

Addressing scepticism about the feasibility of his economic vision, Mbah recalled initial doubts regarding his target to expand Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

“At the time, the trending analysis did not support such a growth level. Achieving this target requires a 27 percent compounded annual growth rate, and some questioned how it could be realized,” he noted.

Nevertheless, he reaffirmed his administration’s strategy for inclusive growth, ensuring that all parts of the state contribute to and benefit from a cohesive economic plan.
