Pep Guardiola named Premier League Manager of the Season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been named the 2023/24 Barclay’s Premier League Manager of the Season.

Guardiola led City to their fourth consecutive Premier League title, the first in the history of the league.

It also marked his sixth title win in the domestic league since taking over in August 2016.

Guardiola has now won the best manager award five times in seven years.

He is eight more away to tally the incredible 13 record of legendary Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

While Guardiola has done nothing but win titles at the Etihad, including a treble last season, his days as the club’s manager are winding down.

Although the 53-year-old has confirmed he will remain with Manchester City next season, his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.

During a recent interview with Sky Sports, he hinted nearing the end of his tenure.

“The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying,” Guardiola stated. “We have talked with the club – my feeling is that I want to stay now.

“I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years – we will see. I didn’t expect to stay eight or nine years.

“I expected three, four or five but not much. I cannot believe it. It’s the Premier League. It’s the toughest one,” he remarked.

City, basking in their title triumph, face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday, 25 May.
