PDP warns APC as calls for Oyetola to contest 2026 election intensifies
The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resolve its internal issues before presenting a candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
This statement came in response to calls for former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to contest in the upcoming race.
Speaking to The Punch, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Bamiji, emphasized that the APC must address its internal challenges before strategizing to unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“We welcome anyone they choose to bring forward, but our advice is for them to first put their house in order. The electorate will determine their fate.
“Osun people are watching, and they will deliver their judgment again. APC should focus on reducing confusion within their ranks and approach the election with clarity and purpose.”
Gistreel reports that a group on Wednesday urged Oyetola to run in the next Osun State governorship election.
According to the group, Oyetola’s candidacy is essential to prevent the party from facing unnecessary crises.
Oyetola previously defeated Ademola Adeleke in the 2018 election to become Osun State governor under the APC banner. However, he lost his reelection bid to Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2022 election.
