PDP speaks on boycotting Kaduna LG elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has firmly refuted claims that its members have been asked to withdraw from participating in today’s council elections across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday in Kafanchan, the administrative center of Jema’a Local Government Area, the state chairman, Edward Masha, stressed that his office neither initiated nor endorsed any call for a boycott.

He said, “While PDP agents at the SIECOM office in Kaduna were inspecting sensitive materials before distribution, it was noticed that one of the most sensitive materials, the result sheets, was not included, which was an anomaly.”

He also revealed that just two weeks prior, he had alerted everyone about the APC’s scheme to tamper with the elections by inserting a provision into the SIECOM election rules that would change how election outcomes are declared.

Masha made it clear that the PDP would not back down until every crucial document was added to guarantee fairness.

The PDP chairman of the state stated that the blatant electoral misconduct of the ruling party showed that democracy was being threatened in the state.

Masha then urged all PDP members to unite in a large show of support to cast their votes and prevent any behavior that might disturb peace in every local government area across the state.
