Paris 2024 Olympics: Nigeria’s woes continue as Ofili, Oborodudu bow out
Nigeria’s medal hopes at the Paris 2024 Olympics took a hit as key athletes failed in their respective events.
Favour Ofili, a 21-year-old sprinter, finished sixth in the women’s 200m final, falling short of expectations and her usual form.
Despite her strong performance leading up to the final, she couldn’t secure a spot on the podium.
Ofili will now shift her focus to the women’s 4x100m relay in hopes of redeeming her Olympic campaign.
Similarly, in wrestling, Blessing Oborodudu, who previously won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, faced disappointment as well.
Oborodudu lost 3-0 to Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki in the bronze medal match of the women’s freestyle 68kg category.
Her loss is a huge setback for Team Nigeria, which had high hopes for her performance.
