Palmer told to emulate Messi, Ronaldo’s consistency to earn legendary status

Chelsea sensation Cole Palmer has been advised to maintain his high standards if he is to become a legend like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes Palmer’s breakout season was extraordinary but notes the importance of consistency to achieve legendary status.

Palmer, who scored 25 goals in 45 appearances during his debut season at Stamford Bridge, has continued to shine in the new Premier League campaign, registering three assists and a goal in a 6-2 victory over Wolves.

This was followed by another assist against Crystal Palace.

Gallas praised Palmer’s potential but challenged him to deliver season after season.

“What Palmer did last season was incredible,” Gallas said. “But the most difficult challenge is staying at that level. It takes immense mental strength and discipline.”

He added, “Messi and Ronaldo dominated football for almost 15-20 years. That’s the standard if you want to be considered the best.”

Chelsea face West Ham on Saturday, with Palmer also expected to make the the starting lineup.
