“Our club will take part” – Real Madrid debunk Ancelotti’s claims on Club World Cup

Real Madrid have released an official statement confirming their participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The statement comes handy to debunk club manager Carlo Ancelotti’s earlier position that the Spanish champions will not participate in the tournament for poor financial gains.

According to a post shared on X by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti told Il Giornale, “FIFA can forget about it.

“One Real Madrid game is worth €20 million, and FIFA wants to give us that sum for the entire tournament.

“No way. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation.”

However, Real Madrid in their statement have played down on the manager’s view.

It read, “Real Madrid C. F. would like to announce that at no time has there been any question regarding our participation in the new Club World Cup to be organised by FIFA in the coming 2024/2025 season.

“Our club will therefore take part, as planned, in this official competition and we are proud and excited to be involved in it and we wll once again inspire our millions of fans all over the world with another trophy,” the club claimed.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti in a different interview revealed that his statement was misinterpreted by the media.

He said, “In my interview with Il Giornale, my words about the FIFA Club World Cup have not been interpreted in the way I intended.

“Nothing could be further from my interest than rejecting the possibility of playing a tournament that I think can be a great opportunity to continue fighting for great titles with Real Madrid.”
