Osimhen frustrated, looks to discuss with Conte as PSG talks risk collapse
Negotiations between Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) regarding the transfer of Victor Osimhen have hit a gridlock.
This has raised the fears that the deal may collapse, with reports suggesting the Nigerian sensation is thinking of holding talks with Napoli boss Antonio Conte on a likely stay at the club for the upcoming season.
Recall the 25-year-old Nigerian striker has been a prime target for PSG, especially after Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
PSG aimed to bolster their squad after the departure of the French international and Osimhen was seen as a perfect fit.
His agent, Roberto Calenda, traveled to Paris to initiate negotiations, but talks are yet to progress.
Football Italia reported that on Monday afternoon, a crucial call took place involving Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, and sporting directors Giovanni Manna and Luis Campos.
However, report from Fabrizio Romano now indicate that the talks did not yield positive results.
PSG has shown no intention of meeting Osimhen’s €130 million release clause, a sticking point for Napoli.
In a bid to find common ground, Napoli proposed including Kang-In Lee as part of the deal, but this suggestion was dismissed by PSG.
Instead, PSG offered Carlos Soler and Nordi Mukiele in exchange, a proposal that Napoli rejected.
With negotiations at a standstill, there is now a serious possibility that Osimhen will remain with Napoli, at least for the immediate future.
