Osimhen becomes Nigeria’s all time top scorer in Serie A

Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen achieved legendary status on Saturday, November 5, when he scored one of the goals in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Atalanta.

Before Saturday’s match, the Nigerian international was tied on the same number of goals (31) as fellow countryman Simy Nwankwo.

Osimhen became Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in Serie A after extending his goal tally in the Italian league to 32. This is coming two years after he joined Napoli from Lille.

With the win, Napoli who has not won Serie A since 1989-90, now has 35 points from 13 games. AC Milan, who are second, are on 29 points and third-placed Atalanta have 27 from 13 games.

Other Nigerian stars who have made history in the Serie A include former Inter Milan striker, Obafemi Martins, who scored 28 goals, Stephen Makinwa who scored 16 goals for Atalanta and Victor Nsofor who bagged 14 goals for Chievo Verona.
