Osimhen admits Messi, Haaland deserve Ballon d’Or

Nigeria star forward Victor Osimhen has admitted that Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland are better suited to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Anticipation builds for the 67th Ballon d’Or ceremony set to hold in Paris on Monday, October 30, with rumours making the rounds that Messi might be set for his eighth title, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Meanwhile, Osimhen who took the Serie A by storm in the last campaign, has continued to prove how humble he is, conceding he might not be the best candidate to win the Ballon d’Or title this year.

In an interview conversation on Twitch, Osimhen was questioned about his thoughts on the upcoming Ballon d’Or.

He said, “For me, the two who deserve to win are Messi and Haaland. One won the World Cup, the other the Treble. I don’t want to say my opinion on it, but they both deserve to win.”

When asked about his own prospects of winning the prestigious award, Osimhen offered a glimpse into his ambitions, saying, “Honestly, if one day I can be close to winning it, it will be sensational for me.

It is already a dream to play at this level. It will be a goal, but not an obsession. If I’m able to be competitive at a certain level, that will be great.”

While Osimhen is also a nominee for FIFA’s Best Male Player award, he’s keeping an eye on another accolade.

He hopes to start from the home front, winning the African Footballer of the Year Award, even though the official shortlist is yet to be unveiled,

The continental award is scheduled for December in Morocco.
