“One asked me for $35k” — Chinedu Ikedieze laments rampant begging on social media
Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, widely known as Aki, makes a plea regarding the number of people on social media begging him for money.
In a video, the comic relief actor expressed his frustration as he hinted at the messages he receives from people who are pleading for varying amounts of money, both large and small.
According to him, one of the extreme cases involved someone requesting $35,000, while another individual asked for $12,000 to open a shop.
Chinedu Ikedieze emphasized that he cannot continue to fulfil these requests from the public as it poses a negative impact on his finances, especially given the current state of the nation’s economy.
“I dey vex, I’m not happy. This is getting out of hands. How can you people turn my DM to bank of Industry? If I start to share the money like that, it would finish. Imagine someone was begging me for $35,000, approximately N20M,” he said in part.
The post sparked thousand of reactions from social media users who blamed it on the economy of the country while others condemned it.
“That is so tiring, even me way no get much I still know how many gimme gimme I encounter everytime. The country is tough but while do people assume that someone doesn’t have other responsibilities apart from giving them money. And some audacious ones are the most funny,” a social media user @Emmaculate96 wrote.
Another user @manlikebrock added, “Nigerians are sth else ..how you go dae email person ti beg 2k…Email is for official purposes nau …Nna ehn ..😂.”
