Ojudu declares Osinbajo the best fit to Govern Nigeria, compares him to Awolowo

Babafemi Ojudu, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was the ideal candidate to lead Nigeria during the 2023 presidential election.

Recall that Osinbajo ran for the presidential ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022 but lost to President Bola Tinubu in the primaries.

In an interview on the ‘State Affairs’ program with journalist Edmund Obilo, Ojudu compared the loss of Osinbajo’s candidacy to the nation missing out on Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s leadership a second time.

He highlighted Osinbajo’s capacity, dedication, and commitment, likening him to Awolowo and emphasizing why he supported Osinbajo during the 2023 elections.

He said, “I supported Osinbajo to be president. I was convinced because having seen him up close.

“The way he worked, his philosophy, his breadth of knowledge and the kind of patriotic verve in him I just think that he was the best person at that time to govern Nigeria that I have seen up close to be on the part of danger.

“Osinbajo would have been good for this country. For me, it is like losing Awolowo for a second time because he was at Awolowo’s level in terms of capacity, ability, dedication and commitment.”
