Official: Atlético Madrid sign Álvarez on long-term deal until 2030
Atlético Madrid have officially announced the signing of Julián Álvarez on a contract that will keep him at the club until 2030.
The 24-year-old has been a standout player for Argentina and his former club Manchester City.
Álvarez began his professional career at River Plate and quickly made a name for himself with the Argentine club.
After debuting in October 2018, he played a crucial role in their Copa Libertadores triumph and continued to add to his accolades with numerous domestic titles.
He finished his time at River Plate with 54 goals and 31 assists in 122 appearances.
In 2022, Álvarez made the move to Manchester City, where he continued his winning ways.
During his two seasons in England, he contributed to City’s dominance in both domestic and international competitions.
He boasts of two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, a European Super Cup, and a Club World Cup, where he was the top scorer.
Internationally, Álvarez has been a vital part of Argentina’s success, earning 36 caps and scoring nine goals.
He was instrumental in Argentina’s Copa América victories, their Conmebol-UEFA Champions Cup win, and their World Cup title in Qatar in 2022.
