Obidient movement condemns APC’s threat To Peter Obi

The Obidient Movement has strongly condemned the recent attack on Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

The group also expressed deep concern over remarks made by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, during an interview on Arise TV, Morka stated that Peter Obi had “crossed the line so many times and he has what’s coming to him, and whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

In a statement signed by Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement described Morka’s comments as a direct threat to Peter Obi’s life and a danger to the peace and stability of Nigeria.

The group warned that such remarks from a spokesperson of the ruling party signal a troubling shift toward authoritarianism under President Tinubu’s administration.

“This declaration is reckless, unacceptable, and a clear endorsement of violence,” the statement read.

The Obidient Movement demanded clarification, questioning what “line” Peter Obi supposedly crossed, who defined this line, and under what authority it was drawn.

They also sought specifics on the actions or statements by Obi that warranted such a comment from the APC.

“What exactly does Felix Morka mean by ‘what’s coming to Peter Obi’?” the group asked.

They accused Tinubu’s administration of resorting to repression instead of dialogue, intimidation instead of engagement, and threats instead of fostering democratic discourse.

The statement further warned, “If any harm comes to Mr. Peter Obi, his family, or anyone associated with him, the Nigerian government and its agents will be held directly accountable.”

The group called on Nigerians and the international community to closely monitor the alleged pattern of threats and intimidation by the ruling party, urging those in power to be held responsible for their actions.

They also appealed to the country’s security agencies to investigate Morka’s remarks thoroughly and ensure they are not ignored, as has happened with similar incidents in the past. “We demand that the security services engage Mr. Morka to clarify his statement,” the group insisted.

This comes after Peter Obi raised alarms, claiming his life is under threat due to his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
