OAU 200-level student, Subair Enitan embarks on 50-hour wash-a-thon to break Guinness World Record
Miss Subair Enitan, a second-year student studying Linguistics and African Languages at Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State, kicked off a 50-hour hand wash-a-thon with the aim of breaking the Guinness World Record (GWR), according to Vanguard News.
The Guinness World Record set the date for the wash-a-thon attempt in Ile-Ife after Enitan informed them of her plans back in June 2023.
Before starting the official washing, Enitan confidently expressed her determination to secure the title for the longest hours spent hand washing, vowing to complete the 50 hours by Sunday.
“I’m motivated by my background and life’s lessons to undertake this wash-a-thon. The experience is hard to describe, but it’s taught me selflessness,” she shared.
“I’m certain I’ll reach the goal of 50 hours of hand washing, and with God’s grace, emerge victorious.”
“Despite the immense support from my fellow students, I’m relying on God’s grace. I plan to finish this wash-a-thon on Sunday. I’m setting a record; I can’t fail because no one has done this before.”
“So, even if I manage 5 minutes, I’ve set a record. My parents are very supportive, and I call on Nigerians to support me during these 50 hours of washing.”
The Student Union president, Abbas Akinremi-Ojo, confirmed that necessary support, including providing ambulances, lighting, and water, among other logistics, has been arranged to ensure her success in the challenge.
The OAU management, represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor John Odedire, assured that the university is fully committed to providing all necessary support to ensure she secures the record.
