NYSC graduate’s viral cry for employment lands her Federal Ministry job
A Nigerian lady who recently completed her NYSC program has sparked conversation as she secured a job at the Federal Ministry of Labour after her video, where she was seen crying, lamenting, and complaining over her inability to secure a job, went viral online.
In the first video she shared, she was seen in a pink sleeveless top, crying and lamenting over her inability to get a job despite making several attempts.
She said: “You know that feeling when you want to pray but you can’t say anything, just tears rolling down from your eyes. I know this is embarrassing, recording yourself when you’re crying, but if I don’t let it out, I don’t think I’m going to be okay.”
“I don’t have anybody that I’ll talk to that’ll understand what I’m trying to say, that’s why I’m making this video.”
“I’m always a strong person, like who gives people advice, words of encouragement but right now, I can not even encourage myself not to give up.”
“I’m tired, I’m exhausted, I’m confused. I’m starting to regret why I moved out. I don’t understand what’s going on in my life right now.”
“Ever since I stepped my feet into this city, I’ve been going for interviews. I’ve gone for interviews more than 5 places, but I don’t get. I’m trying in the interviews, but they’ll be like, have you worked anywhere in this Lagos?”
“And as an honest person, I’ll just tell them no. I’ve not had any working experience in this Lagos, But I know that if they pick you, you’re still going to train for two weeks so I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve not gotten any working experience in this place.”
The said lady went on and on about how she’s unable to secure a job in Lagos.
Just a few days after, the said lady updated her page with a new post, revealing that her video where she cried and lamented her inability to get a job attracted attention and someone from the Federal Ministry of Labour messaged her.
The said message she got from the said ministry read: “Hi, how are you? You caught my boss’s attention in the video you made lamenting how you’re unable to get a job in Lagos after NYSC.”
“My boss, Mrs. Maureen Ovie, Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and head of the Job Center Lagos, asked me to reach out to you. How are you faring now?”
“My name is Adebisi, an officer at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. Kindly respond promptly.”
Immediately she got the message, the lady revealed she thought it was a scam but had to give it a shot and eventually, she got a job in the said ministry.
