Nnamdi Collins regrets not scoring despite chances in Frankfurt’s win over Stuttgart

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins made an unexpected attacking impact in his side’s 1-0 Bundesliga win over VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

Collins, usually deployed in defense, was introduced in the 24th minute as a makeshift right midfielder after Ansgar Knauff suffered an injury.

Despite his inexperience in the role, the 21-year-old impressed with his offensive movement and had multiple chances to score.

“I’ve never played right midfielder in my life,” Collins admitted. “At first, it felt a bit unusual, but I grew into the game and was able to help the team a little.”

Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller noted post-match that Collins could have scored a hat-trick, a sentiment the player echoed.

“I need to work on my shooting a bit,” Collins acknowledged. “I honestly could have scored four goals, but one was enough for the team.”

Mario Götze’s 70th-minute strike secured the win for Frankfurt, but Collins’ attacking display has given Toppmöller something to consider for future matches.
