Nigerian woman dies in car crash 5 days after her wedding
A newly wedded bride,
Maryam Olawunmi Afolabi Ahmed, has been confirmed dead following a ghastly motor accident five days after her wedding.
Maryam, who tied the knot on the 15th of june, was one of 18 passengers on an 18-seater bus involved in a fatal accident along the Minna-Bida road in the Bosso Local Government area of Niger State, in the early hours of Sunday, 19th June 2022.
It was said that the driver of the bus ran into a broken-down tipper on the road after which the accident had occurred and the passengers were burnt beyond recognition.
However, according to the Spokesperson of the Niger Command Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, one survivor is currently receiving medical attention in Minna hospital.
Family and friends of the deceased bride have taken to Facebook to mourn her demise.
Onaolapo Ayinde Wasiu had stated that the deceased had returned to Abeokuta with her husband after their wedding and was heading back to Kaduna on Sunday to for her final year exam when the accident occured.
He wrote:
“Maryam Ajibola Ahmed It’s So Pathetic As Maryam Recently Got Married Last Week In Kaduna And Moved To Abeokuta With Her Husband But Unfortunately She Was Involved In An Accident Along Gidan Mangoro,Minna Early Hours Of Saturday On Her Way Back To Kaduna While She Was Expected To Commence Her Final Exams In Kaduna Polytechnic This Upcoming Week. May God Forgive All Her Short Comings And Grant The Family Of The Deceased The Strength To Bare The Loss”.
