Nigerian university orders students to wear faculty uniforms
The Students of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, have been ordered to, henceforth, wear their faculty uniforms.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Christian Anieke gave the order on Tuesday, January 10. According to him, the move became paramount in order to check indecent dressing among students.
Annie said this while addressing staff and students of the institution as they returned from Christmas and New Year breaks, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
“No student is expected to wear slippers, rugged jeans, coloured hair, long fingers, fez caps, or artificial eyelashes,” he directed.
Mr. Anieke regretted that most students and staff wear t-shirts with unauthorized inscriptions, contrary to the school’s dress code, and ordered male students to comb their hair properly or shave
it.
