Nigerian lawyer working as caregiver in U.K. slumps, dies months after relocating
A Nigerian lawyer, Chidimma Susan Ezenyili, also known as Suzy, collapsed and tragically passed away just six months after relocating to the United Kingdom.
Suzy, who was employed as a caregiver, reportedly collapsed at her workplace on Thursday, February 22, and sadly succumbed two days later.
The 37-year-old had faced challenges at work but remained committed to her elderly client, Ian Hale, 86, whom she cared for over the past five months.
Suzy and her husband, Friday, left Nigeria in August 2023 to seek better opportunities in the UK, working as caregivers on sponsorship visas to provide a better life for their three-year-old daughter, Mandy.
Regarding Suzy’s passing, Catherine Segal, Hale’s daughter, remarked, “She was driven there by her husband with their three-year-old daughter as she wasn’t feeling well but didn’t want to let my dad down.”
Following her collapse, she was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where doctors in the neurosciences critical care unit diagnosed her with a severe brain haemorrhage.
