Nigerian lady seeks advice as fiance insists on marriage despite incompatible genotype
A young Nigerian lady named Gloria is facing a difficult decision as her fiance insists on proceeding with their marriage despite their incompatible genotypes, which could pose a significant risk of having children with sickle cell disorder.
Gloria, who bears the genotype AS, took to social media to seek guidance after her fiancé, who also has the AS genotype, dismissed their genotype incompatibility, believing that their love can defy the odds and avoid having a child with the hereditary disease.
Sickle cell disorder is a genetic condition that affects the red blood cells, causing them to become misshapen and break down more easily.
She wrote;
“I am AS and my fiance is AS , though i know that we can’t marry of which i told him but he is disturbing me that nothing would happen to us that he has seen where AS and As had marry and they didn’t born sickler. What will I do? Help a sister.”Â
