Nigerian lady kidnapped after convocation in Benin Republic, kidnappers demand ₦100m
A Nigerian lady, who attended her convocation in Benin Republic, was reportedly kidnapped on her way back to Nigeria.
The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of ₦100 million.
The incident was shared in a post that quickly went viral on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The post was shared by a prominent figure, who revealed that the message was sent to him via direct message, along with a screenshot.
In his post, he wrote: “What is GIGM doing about this? This is where we are now.”
His statement indicated that the lady had boarded a bus operated by the popular transport company GIGM, which was hijacked by kidnappers.
The lady is believed to be one of several kidnapped victims.
As the post spreads, many concerned individuals have flooded the comment section to express their thoughts on the matter.
See some reactions below:
@Neduzy: “There’s something going on with GIGM and kidnappers, this is not the first time, the other time they kidnapped everyone and allowed the driver go. Something is fishy, the company needs to be investigated.”
@markessien: “If a bank gets robbed, you ask what the Bank is doing about it? Private companies cannot chase and arrest kidnappers – this is what the Police have to do. Call out the police, not a transport company!”
@MOnwuchekwaa: “This is becoming notorious of GIGM and the fact that they just go mum and do nothing about it is sad.”
HIBILLIONEAR: “Bro, this kidnapping thing is as real as daylight. I didn’t understand how it felt until it hit home recently. It’s almost a week now.”
@Bibi2477: “I miss those days when you could drive alone from Akure to Abuja without been apprehensive. All you needed was a good playlist and a full tank.”
@RamotuOlaniyi: “The right question is, “What are the security agencies doing about this.” GIGM is as much a victim as the kidnapped. Security agencies should do their work.”
@ManuelX9999: “Sometime two months ago on this app i saw a complain about GIGM passengers being kidnapped and driver escaping and nothing was done. This needs Investigation.”
@uche_Ezigbo: “How come there was no news about it? When something happens especially when it’s related to big companies they try to hide the story. It’s their image better than peoples life? That’s how they robbed my friend and the entire passenger but no apology was sent.”
@foreverkingin: “And someone will say I should not japa ? Is it people who are struggling with the harsh economy that are expected to pay 100 million naira for ransom ? We have internet in this country meanwhile the EFCC cannot track kidnappers but always able to burst Yahoo boys at hotels.”
