Nigerian-American man calls out Rema for allegedly stealing ‘Ozeba’ term from him
Nigerian-American man, Innocent Tino has stirred controversy online by claiming that rising Nigerian music star Rema owes him for using the term ‘ozeba’ in one of his hit songs
The song, a standout track from Rema’s 11-track sophomore album “HEIS,” was released on July 11.
Innocent Tino took to social media to express his grievances, asserting that he had popularized the term ‘ozeba’ long before Rema incorporated it into his music.
He claims to have started using ‘Ozeba’ about four years ago on his social media pages, turning it into a catchphrase among his followers.
While acknowledging that ‘Ozeba’ is a word from the Benin language, meaning ‘trouble,’ Tino believes his use of the word brought it into the limelight.
In his words:
“Rema need to pay me. I was the one who started using ‘Ozeba’ as gist on social media.. though a Benin word for ‘trouble’… but I made it popular on my page like 4 years ago till date and now Rema used am blow for song …my old followers will attest to it. …I will say ‘this na better Ozeba.'”
