Nigeria U-18 women’s handball team secures 2024 World Championship ticket
The Nigeria’s Under 18 women’s handball team has secured their spot for the 2024 international women’s world handball championship in China.
The Nigerian girls secured their historic ticket after defeating Morocco, with a final score of 28-14 in the quarterfinals of the Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship held in Monastir, Tunisia.
The team led by Coach Shittu Adewunmi, is said to have shown strong determination and talent throughout the match, with Chidera Ogwumsimba earning the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The victory makes it the very first time in history that Nigeria’s U-18 women’s handball team will participate in the World Championship.
The Nigerian Handball Federation (NHF) has expressed its pride in the team’s achievement.
Meanwhile, the U-18 women’s team is now gearing up to compete in the IHF Women Trophy Intercontinental Phase later this year.
Their semi-finals in the ongoing tournament are held today against Egypt at 6:30 pm.
