Nico Williams handed Athletic Club’s iconic 10 shirt ahead of La Liga opener

Athletic Club star Nico Williams has been handed the iconic number 10 shirt previously worn by veteran Iker Muniain.

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, including rumours of a potential move to Barcelona, the club is confident in Williams commitment for the upcoming season.

Williams, 22, has yet to make an appearance in pre-season but is expected to play a role in Athletic’s opening match against Getafe at San Mamés on Thursday.

In a recent statement to the club’s media, Williams expressed his pride in receiving the number 10 shirt.

“The truth is that I am very proud to be able to wear this number and to make history like he [Muniain] has done.”
