NFF denies contacting Herve Renard for Super Eagles coaching role

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied claims that it has initiated contact with Herve Renard for the vacant Super Eagles coaching position.

Reports surfaced on Monday suggesting that the NFF was in discussions with the French coach to take over the national team.

However, a senior NFF official has dismissed these claims.

“This report is inaccurate. We’ve not contacted Renard or his representatives,” the official told BBC Africa.

Renard, currently coaching the French women’s national team, is expected to step down after the 2024 Olympic Games.

Known for his success in Africa, Renard led Zambia to victory in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and repeated the feat with Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.

The NFF is seeking a new coach following Finidi George’s resignation. They aim to appoint a new head coach before the Super Eagles start their qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in September.
