Newcastle demand historic amount from Arsenal for Alexander Isak

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Alexander Isak have taken a hit, as Newcastle United place a high price tag on their star striker.

According to reports, the Magpies have no intention of selling the Swedish international and would only entertain offers nearly double the £82.9 million initially rumoured.

This valuation would make Isak the second-most expensive player in football history, behind Neymar’s £198 million move to PSG in 2017 but ahead of Kylian Mbappé’s £163 million transfer in 2018.

Since joining Newcastle for a club-record £63 million from Real Sociedad in 2022, the 25-year-old has been in exceptional form.

He became the first Newcastle player since Alan Shearer to score 20 Premier League goals in a season and has already netted 17 times this campaign.

Arsenal, in dire need of a clinical striker to boost their title challenge, have long been linked with Isak.

However, Newcastle, under no financial pressure to sell, are determined to keep their prized asset. Liverpool and Chelsea are also reportedly interested, but with Isak under contract until 2028, prying him away from St. James’ Park will require a record-breaking bid.
