Ndidi scores back-to-back league goals as Leicester rout Southampton 5-0

Leicester City hammered Southampton 5-0 at the King Power Stadium, with Wilfried Ndidi scoring back-to-back league goals.

The win brings Leicester within touching distance of promotion back to the Premier League, with just one win needed to seal their return to the top flight.

Abdul Fatawu stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, complemented by goals from Ndidi and Jamie Vardy in the one-sided encounter.

The Foxes path to promotion now hinges on their upcoming clash against Preston, where a victory would secure their place in the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, Southampton’s hopes of automatic promotion have been all but dashed, with the defeat leaving them facing the prospect of a playoff.

The breakthrough for Leicester came in the 25th minute, with Fatawu calmly slotting home after a pass from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Despite Southampton’s protests of a foul in the build-up, the goal stood.

Ndidi extended Leicester’s lead just after the hour mark, heading in a cross from Stephy Mavididi to put the game beyond Southampton’s reach.

Meanwhile, Fatawu continued to impress, adding a stunning second goal with a curling effort from the edge of the box before setting up Vardy for Leicester’s fourth.
