National Grid: AEDC restores power after major outage
Power has been restored to parts of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) service areas after a major outage on Monday evening, which affected several regions across Nigeria.
The disruption, caused by a national grid collapse, impacted areas such as Dei-Dei, Suleja, Lugbe, Kuje, and surrounding locations.
Electricity supply was restored to some of these areas by around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, easing concerns for residents affected by the blackout.
Earlier, AEDC had informed its customers about the outage, explaining that it was due to a grid collapse.
In an update shared on its X handle, AEDC stated the collapse occurred at approximately 6:58 p.m. on Monday.
“Be rest assured that we are working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon the grid stabilises,” AEDC assured its customers in the message.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has stated that Monday’s national grid collapse was partial.
Recall that Nigeria, on Monday at about 6:48 pm, was thrown into darkness.
Enugu Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the national grid collapse in a statement by its spokesperson, Emeka Ezeh, on Monday.

TCN recorded zero load allocation to the eleven Electricity Distribution Companies.
The company, however, said that it has begun system recovery to restore supply.
