A Nigerian lady identified as @abewajii has shared the story of how choosing her boyfriend over her mother led to unexpected success in her love life.

Taking to the TikTok, she narrated the twists and turns that eventually led her to meet her now-husband.

According to the lengthy story shared through pictures, @abewajii recalled how her boyfriend expressed his romantic interest in her when she was just 20 years old.

Despite her mother’s disapproval, exacerbated by societal judgments regarding the boyfriend’s perceived thug-like behavior and tattoos, the young woman decided to choose love over familial expectations.

The situation escalated to a point where her mother presented her with an ultimatum, demanding that she make a choice between her family and her boyfriend.

In a bold move, @abewajii opted to move out of her family home at the age of 18, standing by her decision to be with the man she loved.

“I chose him because I couldn’t bear to lose him either,” she said.

Praising her boyfriend’s parents for their acceptance, @abewajii revealed that she and her boyfriend faced challenges while managing in a self-contained space.

During this time, she gave birth to their child, marking a turning point in their lives. The boyfriend, who worked as a labourer, and @abewajii, who pursued a career in hairdressing, saw significant improvements in their circumstances.

The story took a positive turn as the boyfriend gifted @abewajii three cars and achieved financial success, allowing them to move into their own house in 2020.
