Mourinho unhappy with Roma treatment, slams club Chief Tiago Pinto
Former Roma coach Jose Mourinho didn’t hold back in his criticism of his former club and the way he was treated by director Tiago Pinto.
The Portuguese gaffer expressed dismay at being fired despite his European Final achievement.
“It’s difficult to understand how a coach who reaches two European Finals in a row is fired,” Mourinho stated during an interview with Sport TV.
The decision to dismiss Mourinho came in mid-January, shortly after he expressed his desire to stay with Roma beyond his contract’s expiration in June 2024.
The club opted to replace him with former captain Daniele De Rossi, and their performances have since improved.
Referring to director Pinto’s recent interview, where Pinto expressed regret over delivering the news of Mourinho’s dismissal, the Special One was dismissive.
“I won’t waste a second of my time reading or listening to it,” Mourinho said. “I have no interest at all in what he has to say.”
Mourinho’s tenure at Roma included winning the Conference League in 2022 and reaching the Europa League Final in 2023, where they lost to Sevilla on penalties.
When asked if he would consider working with Tiago Pinto again at another club, Mourinho came out blunt.
“No, certainly not. Sometimes things lead us to think they are possible, but in this case, it is definitely not possible.”
