Mohamed Salah gives condition to stay at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is eager to remain at Liverpool beyond this season, but the club must adjust it contract policy to make that happen.

This is according to Reds legend Michael Owen.

Salah’s current deal expires on June 30, and while he has yet to agree on new terms, Owen believes the Egyptian is keen to stay—provided Liverpool offers him a longer contract than their usual policy for players over 30.

“Mo Salah wants to stay. In fact, I’m pretty sure he wants to stay,” Owen told talkSPORT. “Liverpool might have a rule of only offering two-year deals to players of his age, but he’s no normal player.

“He’s fit, dedicated, and unbelievably professional. I’d bend the rules and give him the contract length he wants.”

Owen also emphasized that replacing Salah would be costly, making it more logical for Liverpool to secure his future rather than invest in a new high-profile signing.

Salah, who has scored 243 goals since joining Liverpool in 2017, remains a key figure in the squad.

However, his future—along with that of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly close to joining Real Madrid, remains uncertain as contract talks continue.
