Millions of naira lost as Lagos port catches fire
Fresh reports coming in say that there is a fire outbreak at Ports and Cargo Terminal Berth 7 and 8 at Tin Can Island port, Lagos.
According to reports, one of the cranes at the port caught fire and affected a vessel on the MV Algeciras Express ship which was loaded with containers.
According to an eyewitness account, the crane caught fire while off-loading the containers from the vessel which caused the vessel to be affected alongside other containers.
Information shared say that the fire which started on the Liebherr crane and Mv Hapag was caused by a mechanical fault. However, it was brought to control by the fire men after hours of burning.
Management of Lagos Port is yet to make an official statement in relations to the fire outbreak.
