Mikel claps back at Nicolas Jackson’s statement, insists he’s not good in finishing
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on Sunday responded shockingly to a recent criticism from club legend John Obi Mikel.
Following his standout performance in the Blues 6-2 win over Wolves, Jackson responded to Mikel’s statement about him after Chelsea’s first match defeat against Manchester City.
Mikel, during his analysis of the Man City game, highlighted Jackson’s struggles in front of goal, remarking.
He said, “We created chances, we haven’t taken them. And just an example of how Jackson finishes.
“You can see there, even though he was offside, he dribble [past] one or two or three players and the way he shot the ball!”
“We need a striker who knows how to hit the ball into the back of the net, and that’s what we don’t have.”
Jackson, however, did not take the criticism lightly. In an Instagram post following the Wolves match, he shot back at Mikel, stating, “@Mikel_John_Obi, shut your mouth, don’t talk s***. We are killing ourselves for Africa.”
Mikel has now responded to Jackson’s outburst, maintaining his stance still.
“Shots fired,” he said, addng “I really like the guy. There’s something there as a football player, but he’s still raw. The finishing part of his game needs to be worked on.
“I haven’t said he’s a bad player at all. I’ve just said his finishing quality is not there yet. He’s a young boy.
“All I said was he needs an experienced striker to come into the football club to help him. To help him improve and get better.
“If he scores every week and tells me to shut up I’ll take that,” he added.
Jackson, who joined Chelsea last summer, has 18 goals and six assists in 46 appearances.
