Michael Jordan sheds tears as he opens clinic worth $7.2 million for the less privileged

Michael Jordan who many regards as NBA’s greatest all-time player having won six titles with the Chicago Bulls has decided to put a smile on the faces of the less privileged in Charlotte, North Carolina by building a clinic for them.

The basketball legend formally opened the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic which is one of the two clinics being singlehandedly financed by his family in North Carolina on Thursday, October 17.

In an emotionally laden voice, Jordan said: “This is a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me over the years.”

Speaking further at the opening, Jordan noted that he has gone off and made life in Illinois and other places playing basketball and got money and fame but that he knows where it all began for him.

He also noted that he does not need his mother to constantly remind him about his humble beginning. “I can only give in gratitude for what I can never repay.”

Jordan donated a whopping $7.2 million (N2,604,960,000 billion) for the two clinics, the second facility is expected to open on Statesville Avenue.

The two clinics will predictably serve nothing less than 35,000 children and adults over the next five years and they are expected to provide both primary health care services and also access to social workers, behavioural health experts, oral health practitioners, and physical therapy.
