Messi says he’s not going to retire immediately from Argetina’s national team
Lionel Messi has pushed back on his earlier comment about retiring from Argentina’s national team, after leading the South American team to victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Recall that the PSG star had previously said the 2022 World Cup final would be the last World Cup match he’ll be playing for Argentina.
After the final was concluded last night, Messi, who picked up the Golden Ball award as the best player of the tournament, spoke about his future in an interview with TyC Sports.
He said;
“No, I’m not going to retire from the Argentina national team. I want to continue playing as a champion.
“It’s crazy that it happened this way. I wanted it very much. I knew that God was going to give it to me, I had a feeling that it was going to be this way. Now to enjoy. Look at this cup, it’s beautiful. We suffered a lot but we made it. We can’t wait to be in Argentina and to see how crazy it’s going to be. This was the trophy I have wanted all of my life. This was my dream since childhood.”
