Mercy Aigbe, others under fire for mourning death of Lara Odubo

Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe and some of her colleagues face criticism for publicly mourning the death of prominent television presenter, actress, and singer Lara Odubo.

Lara Odubo passed away on Saturday, July 28th, 2024; although the cause of death remains unknown. Reports, however, indicated that Odubo had been ill for several days prior to her passing.

Expressing her grief on Instagram, Mercy Aigbe, who appeared to have been close to Odubo, shared her sadness and disbelief over the news. Bidding her farewell, she wrote a heartfelt message.

“Hmmmm! Life 🥲🥲🥲… Still in Denial, Adieu Omolara,” she wrote.

In the comments, her husband Kazim Adeoti, along with Bimpe Akintunde, Toyin Adewale, and Fausat Balogun, joined her in mourning.

However, some online users were displeased, pointing out that the actress and her colleagues had never shown support for the singer while she was alive.

A user, Erri Tinkerat Gold wrote, “Have never seen folks posted her when she was alive. Even if it’s to wish her a birthday blessing, now that she’s dead, everyone is out on social media, giving her last respect. Loruko Jesu oni fi iku lokiki.”

Another user, Big Mozano20 added, “Why are they posting her now? Have never come across her pictures before, but it’s well. RIP”.
