Mbappe scores on debut as Madrid clinch sixth Super Cup against Lookman’s Atalanta
Real Madrid picked their sixth UEFA Super Cup title with a 2-0 win over Atalanta, with Kylian Mbappe shinning on debut.
The first half saw few good chances, with both teams striking the woodwork, Rodrygo Goes for Real Madrid and Atalanta through a deflection off Eder Militao.
After the break, Real Madrid took control of the game. Federico Valverde opened scoring on the hour mark, finishing from close range after Vinicius Junior’s brilliant run and assist.
The Brazilian winger’s drive to the by-line created the fine opportunity for Valverde to tap in from just a yard out.
Ten minutes later, Mbappe made his mark on his Real Madrid debut.
The French star, who joined the club in a blockbuster move, received a pass from Jude Bellingham and calmly slotted home from inside the penalty area, doubling Madrid’s lead.
The match concluded with Real Madrid comfortably holding on to their 2-0 advantage, sealing yet another European trophy.
