Master of three: Ngannou’s secret football link revealed, after switching from MMA to boxing
Renowned UFC fighter turned boxer Francis Ngannou, has a revealing link to football back in his native Cameroon.
Although he has no intention of switching sports again, his affinity for popular sports have garnered attention.
Recall Ngannou made headlines last year when he transitioned from MMA to boxing after signing with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
Despite facing challenges in the boxing ring, including a controversial split-decision loss to Tyson Fury in October last year and a knockout defeat against Anthony Joshua last month, Ngannou’s love for his homeland’s football remains evident.
During a recent holiday in Cameroon, Ngannou was spotted playing football with Sable F.C de Batie.
PFL CEO Peter Murray also disclosed that Ngannou is a co-owner of a football club in Cameroon.
While there may be talks about Ngannou’s potential return to football, Murray is confident that the heavyweight fighter’s focus remains on MMA.
“I don’t think he’s going to hit the pitch. He does have ownership in a Cameroonian football club.
“He’s quite passionate about it, he may be quiet about it but he definitely supports that franchise,” Murray told SunSport.
