Manchester United’s second bid for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu rejected

Manchester United have had their second bid, reportedly worth £27 million, turned down by Lecce for left-back Patrick Dorgu.

This follows an earlier bid of £23 million, with Lecce maintaining their stance on a £35 million valuation for the 20-year-old defender.

Dorgu joined the Serie A side in 2022 from Danish club FC Nordsjælland for a mere £168,000 (€200,000).

Since his arrival, he has quickly risen through the ranks, making his senior debut in August 2023.

Over the past 18 months, Dorgu has made 56 appearances, contributing five goals and two assists, and has earned four caps for Denmark’s senior national team.

United manager Ruben Amorim, who took charge in November 2024, is keen to secure Dorgu as his first signing to bolster the Red Devils’ struggling squad, currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League.

Despite spending heavily in the summer on players like Leny Yoro (£58.9 million) and Matthijs de Ligt (£42.9 million), Manchester United’s new owners, Ineos, are taking a more cautious approach this window.

The club, accoroding to talkSPORT, are reportedly looking to offload high-earners such as Antony and Marcus Rashford before committing to further big-money transfers.
