Manchester United target former Chelsea forward Timo Werner for January transfer
Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on former Chelsea forward Timo Werner for the upcoming January transfer window.
Erik ten Hag in need of striking reinforcements, is exploring options to strengthen the squad, and Werner is now on their radar.
According to reports from Sky Sports Germany, Manchester United have approached RB Leipzig to inquire about Werner’s availability.
The 27-year-old German international struggled during his two years at Chelsea, managing 23 goals in 89 matches but contributing to the Blues’ Champions League victory in 2021.
Werner returned to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 for £23.5 million, scoring 16 goals in 40 games.
However, he has found the net only twice this season in eight games, leading to rumours of his potential return to the Premier League.
While some Manchester United fans are unhappy with the news, following his inconsistent form, others acknowledged the team’s pressing need for goals.
The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season, even with Rasmus Hojlund, their £72 million summer signing, who is yet to score a Premier League goal..
