Manchester United squad not good enough – Ten Hag on defeat to Bournemouth

Erik ten Hag criticized Manchester United’s players as “not good enough” after their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

The loss incurred on Saturday dealt a severe blow to United’s top-four hopes, intensifing pressure on the Dutch manager.

Bournemouth seized control early in the game, with Dominic Solanke slotting past Andre Onana.

The visitors continued their dominance in the second half, as Philip Billing doubled the lead, and Marcos Senesi completed the party in the 73rd minute.

A VAR intervention spared United from further embarrassment, disallowing a goal by Dango Ouattara.

Meanwhile, fans taunted Ten Hag with chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ after witnessing United’s eleventh defeat of the season in all competition.

Expressing his frustration, Ten Hag didn’t mince words in his assessment of the team’s performance.

He said, “As a squad, we are not good enough to be consistent. We know we are able to do it, we showed it in the week. We have to leave this behind, but we have to talk about it.”

Acknowledging the need for higher standards and consistency, Ten Hag took responsibility for the team’s lackluster start.

“I have to prepare the team so they are ready. I’m very disappointed with the way we started, and we have to be better.”
