Manchester United saw 10-year record shattered in derby defeat against City

Manchester United on Sunday suffered a 3-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City, ending a proud 10-year Premier League record.

Until the derby encounter, United have not lost a Premier League game when leading at half-time.

Marcus Rashford had given United the lead with a stunning long-range strike, but Phil Foden’s brace and Erling Haaland’s goal turned things around for the hosts.

Under Erik ten Hag’s management, United had not lost a game when leading at half-time, and this dates back to 2014, even before the manager joined the club.

However, just like there is an end to everything, City’s comeback marked the end of this impressive run.

The defeat left many United fans distraught, as the team struggled to maintain their first-half advantage throughout the remainder of the game.

In addition to United’s record, City midfielder Rodri set a new milestone, surpassing Chelsea legend Ricardo Carvalho with an unbeaten streak of 59 games for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Rodri’s consistency has been a key factor in City’s success, with the midfielder missing only three Premier League games this season, all of which City lost.
