Manchester United players reportedly concerned as Ten Hag hardline approach affects squad morale
Manchester United players are reportedly worried that Erik ten Hag tough approach is affecting team morale, amidst a poor start to the season.
United currently sits eighth in the Premier League, having lost five of their first ten matches.
Ten Hag who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022, has left no stone unturned to show he is a no-nonsense coach.
He has been hard on many of his decisions, dealing firmly with various issues involving high-profile members of the squad
Jadon Sancho’s disciplinary case is among the most recent.
However, sources within the United squad, as reported by Mail Sports, feel that Ten Hag’s handling of certain players has negatively impacted team unity.
Ten Hag public dispute with Sancho, who is currently excluded from the first-team squad, has added to the scrutiny of United’s underwhelming campaign.
Sancho publicly disagreed with Ten Hag’s statements about his omission from the squad that faced Arsenal in September, and his refusal to apologize led to his exclusion.
The Manchester United have demanded a public apology from Sancho, but the player has remained adamant, insisting he has done nothing wrong.
Despite his exclusion, Sancho is said to maintain relationships with some players in the squad.
Ten Hag decisions regarding player selection, like leaving out Raphael Varane against Manchester City, have also been a point of contention.
Recall last season, Ten Hag treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo made the player move to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. The incident also caused division within the team at the time.
